ICFBT!! was pencilled June 29th at a Jam with Troy Little, Mike Morrison and Clayton Jacobs at the Conroy Pub. Being an impatient artist and chock full of beer, I drew the comic while I was waiting my turn to work on the two Jam pages we had circulating. Finished inking it last night while listening to Colores Andinos' "Yacumama" CD which Clay picked up on Canada Day for me. Awesome album!! Hope y'all enjoy :-) Suzanne.

Wyrm's Treasure (24 hour comic)

The Wyrm's Treasure, by Suzanne Marsden

This was my second attempt at a 24 hr comic. My first try was June 2001-a very hot, sticky night where I knew I wouldn't get much sleep anyway. Managed to get all the pages drawn, but only 4 inked in 24 hours, which according to the "rules" is a noble failure. I was determined not to have a failure this time! I decided that to save time, I'd bypass penciling entirely and go straight to ink (since I hadn't had time to ink the first effort!)

Blank page, big bottle of ink, brush pen, white gouache, white-out pen and markers. Now for an idea! I came to the page with nothing in my head except the notion that if I wanted to get this done in 24 hrs. I should draw something I was familiar with. I've been drawing dragons forever and went with that impulse; forgetting of course that I'd be drawing the damned thing for another 23 pages :-P I can't say whether seeing "The Two Towers" 3 days before doing this had any bearing: You be the judge.

It was brutal, exhausting, fun, crazy at times. It was a hell of a lot easier than the one I tried on my own. As I said to a pal: it's like taking a long, torturous walk in the wasteland; much easier when you've got a few hands to hold onto, fellow travelers on that endless journey to keep you motivated and to encourage back. Hope you enjoy!
