Christmas Evening Lights.

Stories and Poems

WINTER

Winter time is on the door
Like every year before
Button up your coats
Wear hats mittens scarfs and boots
Cold winds will sweep in from the North
Pretty little stars of snow will cover everything like a cloth

Go to the woods to gather fuel
Because the winters can be cruel
If you dress warmly it holds the cold at bay
And keeps all the winter ills away

Icicles hang like shimmering gems from eaves
Robins looking for berries in the trees

Tall and small are very fond
To skate on the village pond
Cheeks and noses are red from the cold air
But they don't care
They zoom around hand in hand
In this picturesque winter-wonderland

Carol singing from door to door
Will be done like many years before

Santa comes to see if children have been good
And to put young and old into a Christmas mood
Presents trees tinsel and meat the best
Will be bought to make it the grandest fest

Bells will be rung
Psalms will be sung
In the sky stars will shine bright
All will sit around the Christmas tree by candle light
Children playing with new toys
Everyone doing what he or she enjoys
Eating and drinking to heart's content
Wishing it would never end
