White Rabbit in a cage.

Other Stories and Poems

previous poem, Annushka. next poem, Poor Little Monkey.

SUFFERING

A sweet little face
Looks from the cage
Pleading to be let out

Why has it to be me
To be tortured day after day

No love
No feeling
I
Am only an animal
They
Can do what they want

I have no choice No-one hears my voice
Are people so bad
That they don't care
They think
It's only a hare

I have been asked why I write these poems. I feel great pity for all the animals that are experimented on. At the same time I know that some experiments are necessary to avoid epidemics, but often cosmetics and other luxury items are tested using animals.

There are other methods available for this.
I hope that those methods are used.
