MABEL'S TREE

In her garden stood a lovely tree of evergreen
From all around he could be seen
He grew so tall and strong
But something went wrong
The neighbours complained with a frown
She had to chop his branches down
They laid high from fence to house
There was no room for a mouse
To tread in her garden anywhere
It was something terrible she could not bear
The trunk still stands proud
She has to dress him up
Give him a cap
A scarecrow he will be
For everyone to see
