Psychiatry revealed
Found the following video on YouTube. Thomas Szasz, Professor Emeritus in Psychiatry, discusses the difference between a physical disease, for which there are objective tests like blood tests and X-rays, and a psychiatric one. He also gives a little history lesson on psychiatry. Learn about drapetomania, hysteria and how for hundreds of years, psychiatrists have used so-called diagnostic terms to stigmatize and control people.

“…No behavior or misbehavior is a disease or can be a disease. That’s not what diseases are…”
“…When I went to medical school, 60 years ago, there were only a handful of mental diseases, I think there were no more than 6 or 7. Now there are more than 300, and new ones are ‘discovered every day’…”
“…The task we set ourselves to combat psychiatric coersion is important. I think it’s important, you all think it’s important. Not enough people think it’s important. It’s a noble task, a task in the pursuit of which we must, regardless of obstacles, perservere. Our conscience commands that we do no less.” – Thomas Szasz
My issue is Zyprexa which is only FDA approved for schizophrenia (.5-1% of pop) and some bipolar (2% pop) and then an even smaller percentage of theses two groups.
So how does Zyprexa get to be the 7th largest drug sale in the world?
Eli Lilly is in deep trouble for using their drug reps to ‘encourage’ doctors to write zyprexa for non-FDA approved ‘off label’ uses.
The drug causes increased diabetes risk, and medicare picks up all the expensive fallout. There are now 7 states (and counting) going after Lilly for fraud and restitution.
