Buckingham and Coffman criticize the conventional career path of promoting people out of roles in which they excel and moving them into roles in which they struggle. The authors say it is foolish to reward excellence in a role by removing the person from the role.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Wasn’t there a Murphy Law about it – people tend to rise to their level of inefficiency? Oops, got that wrong, it’s Peter’s Principle (1969) \u00abpeople are promoted to the level of their incompetence.\u00bb Not to be confused with Hanlon’s Razor: \u00abnever attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.\u00bb<\/p>\n

How about this fable – it was always one of my favourites – Animal School Fable, written by G.H. Reavis, Assistand Superintendent of Schools, Cincinnati, Ohio – 1937<\/span><\/p>\n
