Polar bears and global warming

Found this image on the front cover of our Montreal Gazette, Saturday February 3 2007, with the headline “IT’S LATER THAN WE THINK”. Wouldn’t you say? It’s also a quote by lead author Susan Sullivan of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The photo was taken by Canadian environmentalists off the coast of Alaska.

And I was telling my daughter how the people trying to warn us about global warming were being called fanatics. Much like the people who used to warn us about the dangers of smoking and second-hand smoke. They were also being called fanatics at the time. My, how things change!
